Knits made of organic cotton
Due to the high standards set by GOTS, all cotton knits by BY GARMENT MAKERS are made of pure organic cotton, grown without any use of chemicals, pesticides or synthetic fertilisers. The same as when manufacturing an organic cotton fabric.
The advantages of not using chemicals during the cultivation and manufacturing processes are among others, that the threads of the cotton remain undamaged, which is a desirable benefit throughout the knitting process as well as the comfort levels of the final garment.
The organic approach makes the knits soft, smooth to your skin and less receptive towards pilling and other forms of wear and tear.
Organic wool in knits
One of the most common and most versatile natural fibers used in knits is wool. In fact, wool is one of the oldest fibers used by mankind and it would not be right having a fashion collection of sustainable menswear without integrating the astonishing benefits of this raw material.
One of the best reasons to wear sustainable knits made of wool is the fact that it is one of the most environmentally friendly materials used in the production of organic clothing, as wool is fully biodegrade at the end of its use, making its full lifecycle eco-friendly.
It is well known that wool acts as an insulator when it is cold, making it the perfect winter fabric. But even in hot weather wool is a comfortable and, believe it or not, a cool fabric. Rather than letting cold or hot air in, wool works to regulate to a natural body temperature.
Wool is an extremely durable and hard-wearing fabric, which can withstand heavy wear and tear. The perfect item when chosen sustainable clothes when aiming to create a long lasting and sustainable wardrobe.
How to care for knits made of wool
Wool is naturally stain and scent resistant, which require the knits to be washed less frequently. This means that caring for clothing made of wool is both easy and gentle on the planet.
We recommend reading the care instruction carefully before washing. Some wool knits can be washed in the washing machine on a gentle wash, others may only be washed by hand.
To increase the longevity of knits made of wool, remember to turn them inside out before wash and dry them flat to prevent the wool from stretching.
